Our Services
Our solutions
Woongal Environmental Services works across Queensland and delivers environmental management and monitoring for the public and private sectors.
Our work has seen traditional practices return to Country for the management of habitat quality, offset management, weed and pest control and adherence to state and federal conditions and approvals.
Our services include:
GROUND AND SURFACE WATER MONITORING
The appropriate monitoring of groundwater quality, surface water quality and aquifer conditions can help detect contamination before it becomes a problem. The appropriate type of monitoring and the design of the system will depend upon the background hydrology, pollution sources, the population density and the climate of the region.
Woongal offers a variety of groundwater and surface water monitoring systems: ambient monitoring, source monitoring, enforcement monitoring, and research monitoring.
GROUNDWATER DEPENDENT ECOSYSTEMS
A groundwater dependent ecosystem assessment is an assessment of the likely ecological or groundwater impacts of a development scheme and is undertaken by a suitably qualified professional (CEnvP). It is required when there is a reasonable likelihood that a development will have impacts on ecological or groundwater features. With our specialised partners, Woongal offers a wide range of quality groundwater dependent ecosystem assessments.
AIR AND NOISE QUALITY
The appropriate monitoring of air and acoustic quality can help detect potential contamination to the atmosphere or nuisance to sensitive receptors. The appropriate type of monitoring and the design of the system will depend upon the background air and noise quality, pollution sources, noise sources and the climate of the region. With our specialised partners, Woongal offers a wide range of air and noise quality assessments.
FLORA AND FAUNA SURVEYS
An ecological assessment is an assessment of the likely ecological impacts of a development project and is undertaken by a suitably qualified ecologist (CEnvP). It is required when there is a reasonable likelihood that a development will have impacts on ecological features. With our specialised partners, Woongal offers a wide range of quality ecological assessments.
Threatened species management
The management of threatened flora and fauna is essential in species survival and more broadly protecting biodiversity. Threatened species are listed as endangered, vulnerable or near threatened under Commonwealth and/or State legislation, it is therefore required by law to assess and manage impacts to particular threatened species. With our specialised partners, Woongal is able to assess impacts to threatened species and prepare threatened species management plans.
Weed and pest monitoring and control
Weed and pest species have a significant impact on native Australian species. It is therefore important to assess the extent and potential impacts that these species may have. The appropriate level of monitoring is essential in terms of the management and control of weeds and pests. With our specialised partners, Woongal is able to monitor and control weeds and pests.
Soil sampling
Soil sampling may refer to one or more of a wide variety of soil analysis conducted for Impact Assessment, mine rehabilitation or cropping and grazing management. Soil sampling techniques, timing of sampling and type of analysis need to be considered for accurate results. Woongal can help you identify the most appropriate soil sampling for your needs.
Erosion and sediment monitoring
Woongal has the capability to undertake the appropriate erosion and sediment monitoring and can identify the required erosion and sediment controls for development and construction works.
Mine rehabilitation monitoring
Woongal provides a full range of mine site rehabilitation monitoring services, including geotechnical, erosion and sediment assessments, water quality, ground water, crop coverage, grazing impact, ecological (fauna and flora) assessments, habitat assessments, soil assessments and analysis and compliance with closure criteria.
OFFSET AREA MANAGEMENT
Woongal has the capability to manage, restore and protect designated offset areas.
Fauna spotter catcher and pre-clearance surveys
At Woongal, we offer Fauna Pre-Clearing and Spotter Catcher services for responsible development. Our pre-clearing surveys assess native wildlife and sensitive habitats, ensuring compliance with development consent conditions. During clearing operations, we prevent harm to fauna by inspecting potential habitats and working with experts when needed.
biodiversity and habitat quality assessments
Woongal provides Biodiversity and Habitat Quality Assessments to support environmentally responsible projects. Our assessments evaluate native species and habitat quality, ensuring compliance with development consent conditions. Woongal is here to assist with comprehensive biodiversity assessments for development projects.
River and stream health water monitoring
Woongal offers River and Stream Health Water Monitoring services to help assess and maintain the well-being of aquatic ecosystems. Our expert team conducts thorough water quality assessments and environmental surveys, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and preserving the health of rivers and streams.
